BARRY HUDSON
Band
Director

Whether it be in Leominster or anywhere in
New England, when one hears the sound of the
LHS fight song played by the Marching Blue
Devils, band director Barry Hudson is sure
to follow.
A graduate of Leominster High and alumnus of
the Marching Blue Devils, Hudson pursued an
interest in music during and after high
school, leading him to the University of
Massachusetts Lowell to study music.
Throughout his career, work in many musical
projects has deemed him a nationwide
celebrity within the musical world.
Crossmen and The Star of
Indiana (now known as the Emmy and
Tony Award-winning show Blast!)
--some of the nation's most prestigious drum
corps--are but a few under his belt.
After years in the drum corps, Hudson has
returned to his hometown of Leominster,
Massachusetts, where he has served 10 years
in the Leominster Public School system as a
music teacher. Currently, he is in his 7th
year as the director of the Marching Blue
Devils, in addition to being the director of
the Jazz band and the Chorus at Leominster
High School. Along with these duties, he is
a valued member in the Teachers Union as a
representative, striving to find new methods
to improve education and enforce music in a
more positive direction in schools. His work
with the band within the community has
earned him several awards from colleagues
and the community: Leominster's Fan of the
Year Award in 2004 and 2006 and Leominster's
2006 Teacher of the Year Award presented by
the Leominster Rotary Club.
Hudson is one of Leominster's foremost
authorities in music, bringing with him
several impressive credentials in the music
world to inspire and teach aspiring, young
musicians in the art of music. Alone, the
spirit of music at Leominster High School
was revitalized under his direction,
bringing the Jazz band, Chorus, and the
Marching/Concert Band to new heights, and
has received critical acclaim from the likes
of Superintendent Nadine Binkley and
Leominster Mayor, Dean Mazzarella.
He is also a successful trumpet player and
performer having played for almost 30 years,
and is happily married to his high school
sweetheart, Michelle, with two children. |
